Home-based education & care

Busy Bodies is the newest, most exciting and innovative home-based childcare service in Southland. We have a vision for the future and are full of energy and compassion for quality early childhood education. Research (including University of Otago and articles in the International Journal of Early Childhood to name two), has shown that the children's formative years of 0-3 are when it is most important to learn about trust, empathy, compassion, attachment and emotional well being.

Home-based education and care, for this age group especially, can provide this 'education' for pre school children as there is just one adult per a maximum of 4 children which means they all have a chance to bond with that adult and giving them the best chance to develop these emotional needs.

Being in a home (whether it be yours or the Educators) means that children can keep their home routine, sleep in a bed in a bedroom, play in a garden, bake in a kitchen, have time to talk to an adult, access the community like the library or local park. They also have the opportunity to paint, play with dough, dress up, play in the sand pit or toys inside. All these are beneficial to a growing child's emotional well being.

We combine our skills and knowledge to provide a professional service. Our educators are supported by a friendly and motivated team who are committed to providing high quality education, care and nurturing in the home setting to small groups of children. Because we love our own young pre-schoolers, we want the best for them and the children in our network. When we choose our Educators and Nannies we ask ourselves, would we leave our children with this person? Would our children want to stay in this environment. We take our children with us to see how they react.

We believe that you are choosing a person to look after your children, not a building or a service. By using home-based care and education for your pre-school child you are building a rich extended family like relationship. The children grow in an environment that is home like and with a group of children of no more than four at one time.
